Hey, babe! My name is Chelsey Cobabe. Originally from the PNW, my family and I have transplanted to Upstate NY for some new adventures. My husband and I have three adorable kid-lets, who keep us on our toes. With three little ones we’re busy creating, learning, and exploring- outside, in our community, and through books!
Growing up, my parents helped to foster my love of literature. If I ever got in trouble, instead of being grounded from going to a friend’s house, I would be “grounded” from the book I was reading. Many of the books I read as a child allow me (and my family) to better connect with my children. Stories make up who we are- and children’s literature is the very stepping stone into learning, discovery and creativity.
Like children’s picture books, quilts provide the same comforting feeling, nostalgia, and whimsy as a well loved book. There is so much artistry to be found from the stories that have been published: the words, the artwork, the themes, and the memories. The inspiration that comes from these storybooks fuels my creativity to produce quilt patterns that link generations together and provide a sense of comfort and love. Grandparents, parents, aunts and uncles, nephews and nieces, and friends who become family all are connected through the stories of our lives; translate those memories into a modern quilted heirloom blanket to continue your story.
My goal with Cobabe Co. is to translate storytelling through modern quilting to be able to connect with each other throughout generations. Even if quilting is not a part of your personal heritage, stories are! Whether you have been shaped by the stories published by a well known author, or your story comes in the form of your autobiography or even family history, there is so much you have to offer.
